Description
This day tour is designed for those who want to learn the most about Albania’s history in the shortest amount of time.  Kruja is home to one of Albania’s most complex and interesting museums and the Amphitheatre in Durres surely can’t be missed due to its historical importance.
This can be considered a “classic day tour” of central Albania. We’ll bring you to the famous places that are mentioned in most of the guidebooks and websites but we’ll certainly tell you secrets that not every guide will provide!
Please send us an email if you would want to add to this amazing tour, a meeting with a real Albanian Sworn Virgin. Through her life and human being we shall be good at describing a bit the Albanian Customary Law called Kanun.
Itinerary
  • Meet in the morning at 9:00.
  • Drive to Kruja through the town of Fushe Kruja – which is probably soon going to be called George W. Bush Town – let us show you why! (approx. 1 hour drive.)
  • Visit the deservedly famous Skanderbeg and the Ethnographic Museum as well as the Bektashi Teqe of the Fortress of Kruja (built in early 17th Century – this teqe is a testimonial to the Albanian way of Islam that we’ll happily inform you of!)
  • Free time to explore the Ottoman Bazaar of Kruja. Lunch in traditional restaurant in the Bazaar.
  • Drive to Durres (approx. 1 hour drive.)
  • Visit the downtown and the Roman Amphitheater of ancient Durrachium. The Archaeological Museum of Durres will be one of the highlights of this day-trip as it presents a really fine collection of objects related to the loooonnnnnng history of Durres.
  • Coffee break in one of the brand new buildings of the city center with nice views of the harbor (the biggest in Albania and one of the most important on the eastern Adriatic.)
  • Drive back through a beautiful scenic countryside road to Tirana late in the afternoon. (approx. 1 hour drive).
